Term | Definition |

Textures/Materials | Surface treatments that can be applied to objects in Blender. Can be either bitmap or procedural. |
Procedural Textures | Made from computer generated patterns and effects |
Bitmap Texture | Uses images to simulate realistic textures quickly. Objects must be UV unwrapped first |
Unwrapping | The process of taking of 3D object and virtually cutting it and laying it flat as a series of 2D series to help apply 2D images to the surface |
Background Image | A picture that is placed "behind" the entire 3D scene like a backdrop |
Saving Images | Saving images that you have painted on in a texture editor. |
Render | To create 2D photos of the object(s) you've created in a 3D program |
Falloff | Feathering on the end of brush strokes |
Alpha | Property for material transparency/Opacity |
