Term | Definition |

Timeline | a wide panel that show each frame in sequence for a movie. It can show layers within the movie. It designates the keyframes some way like a dot on them. |
Tween | is when an animating software program will automatically fill in the inbetween states of two keyframes. This is typically done by moving an item, rotating an item, or scaling an item but can include other changes. |
Keyframe | is a frame in a timeline that is set as a beginning or ending state for whatever items are on the keyframe. |
frame | is one slot in a timeline, one individual picture of everything in the movie at that given precise moment of time. It can be a keyframe that is set up and controlled by the animator or it can be a processed tween frame |
frame rate | the speed at which frames will process when play back of the movie happens. The faster the frame rate the shorter time it takes to play a given amount of frames. |
