Use this stack of virtual flashcards to study for the Drawing final.

QuestionAnswer
Sketchbook A book where you can plan out ideas for your projects.
Craftsmanship The overall quality or neatness of your work.
Line An Element of Art that describes the path of a moving point. Lines can be straight, curved, thick, thin, wavy, etc.
Texture An Element of Art that describes how a surface feels or how it may seem to feel in a drawing.
What directional shading techniques did we practice in colored pencil. Hatching, cross hatching, scumbling, and stippling.
What are some examples of shape? Square, heart, circle, star, geometric or organic.
What are some examples of form? Cube, cone, sphere, cylinder, or pyramid.
Value An Element of Art that describes adding lightness and darkness to a color by shading.
Highlight When shading a form, the whitest and brightest area of the form. This is where the light is hitting the object.
Cast Shadow When shading a form, this falls from an object to a flat surface and if found on the side directly opposite from the highlight.
What is an example of a shape and the form it becomes once it has been shaded? A circle becomes a sphere when it is shaded.
What tools help with shading when using graphite pencils? 6B pencil and a blending stump.
Warm Colors Red, yellow, and orange.
Cool Colors Blue, green, and purple.
Monochromatic Color Scheme A color scheme that uses tints, tones, and shade of one color.
Tint Created when you add white to a color.
Shade Created when you add black to a color.
Primary Colors Red, yellow, and blue.
Secondary Colors Green, orange, and violet.
How are tertiary colors created? By mixing 1 primary and 1 secondary color.
Self Portrait A painting, drawing, or photograph of the artist created by the artist.
Pixel Image A digital image that is composed of grids of solid blocks of color.
Vector Image A digital image that is made up of paths rather than a grid.
Google Draw A program that allows you to use different digital tools to create a drawing.
Photopea A website that is very similar to photoshop that allows you to manipulate photos to create a piece of artwork.
