Two major levels of the skin. Epidermis & Dermis
Lymphatic System collects and returns interstitial fluid; defend body against disease by producing lymphocytes; absorbs lipids from intestines and transports them to the blood.
Which layer of the epidermis is composed of a single row of cuboidal or columnar keratinocytes? Stratum Basale
Which epidermal cell has a role in immunity and disease resistance? Intraepidermal macrophages (Langerhans cells)
4 primary tissue types Epithelial, connective, muscle, nervous
Nervous Tissue carries information from one part of the body to another in the form of electrical impulses
3 primary germ layers Ectoderm, endoderm, mesoderm
Specializations of Epithelial Cells 1. Move fluids over the epithelium (protection) 2. Move fluids through the epithelium (permeability) 3. Produce secretions (protection and messengers)
Anaphase Phase of mitosis in which chromosomes separate and move to opposite ends of the cell.
