Human Anatomy Weeks

Intracellular Control Mechanisms that operate at cell level and operate within the cells with means of genes and enzymes.
Intrinsic Control Operate at the tissue and organ levels, make use of chemical signals.
Extrinsic Control Outside control and operates at the system and organism levels.
What are the four major groups of organic substances? Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and Nucleic acids and related molecules.
What elements does a carbohydrate contain? Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
Lipids Are water soluble organic biomolecules.
Triglycerides A type of lipid and functions as the body'd most concentrated source of energy.
Cholesterol A type of steroid found in the plasma membrane surrounding every body cell.
What four elements do protein carry? Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen.
Enzymes Are proteins that bring molecules together or splits them apart by chemical reactions.
Hyperlipidemia Abnormal high lipid concentration in the blood.
Diffusion The tendency of small particles to spread out evenly within any size of space.
