Intracellular Control | Mechanisms that operate at cell level and operate within the cells with means of genes and enzymes. |
Intrinsic Control | Operate at the tissue and organ levels, make use of chemical signals. |
Extrinsic Control | Outside control and operates at the system and organism levels. |
What are the four major groups of organic substances? | Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and Nucleic acids and related molecules. |
What elements does a carbohydrate contain? | Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. |
Lipids | Are water soluble organic biomolecules. |
Triglycerides | A type of lipid and functions as the body'd most concentrated source of energy. |
Cholesterol | A type of steroid found in the plasma membrane surrounding every body cell. |
What four elements do protein carry? | Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen. |
Enzymes | Are proteins that bring molecules together or splits them apart by chemical reactions. |
Hyperlipidemia | Abnormal high lipid concentration in the blood. |
Diffusion | The tendency of small particles to spread out evenly within any size of space. |
