Chromebook Parts

TermDefinition
RAM (random access memory): the part of the computer in which information is stored temporarily when a program is being used
ROM (read only memory): the part of a computer in which information that cannot be changed is stored
CPU (central processing unit): the part of a computer system that performs the computer’s main functions
Fan sometimes also called the heat sink, pulls hot air out of the computer
USB Port a computer part that connects devices like keyboards, printers, and flash drives so they can communicate
Hard Drive a device that is used for storing computer data and that contains one or more hard disks
Keyboard an input device that is used to enter characters into the computer system by pressing buttons, or keys
Touchpad an input device that is used to control the mouse pointer, also known as the cursor
Wireless Card receives the wireless signal and communicates with the wireless network, enabling you to access the Web
Sound Card generates an audio signal and sends it to a computer's speakers
Bezel the border between the screen and the frame - they are mostly for looks, but they do provide some protection to the screen
Graphics Card generates images and graphics to an output device such as your screen
Motherboard the circuit board of your Chromebook that holds essential components such as the CPU, RAM and ROM
