Definitions of Certain Words For This Unit(Cyber Security)

TermDefinition
Digital Footprint Information of a person based on their online activity.
Digital Cookies A small file that(if accepted) the website uses to record your actions and data on said website. The way the website remembers you and your habits.
GeoLocation Identifying the geographical location of a person or device via the internet(Like Google maps).
MetaData Data that gives information about other data.
Data Facts and Statistics collected together for analysis.
Spreadsheet A digital document that arranges data in rows and columns and can be used for calculations.
Browser History A accumulation of websites that the user has previously searched up.
Digital Literacy An individual's ability to find, evaluate and clearly communicate info via typing and any other digital platforms.
Blog A regularly updated website, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.
Dossier A collection of documents about a particular person, event, or subject.
Derogatory Showing a disrespectful attitude.
Social Networking The use of dedicated websites and applications to interact with other users, or to find people with similar interests to oneself.
Viral Involving an image, video, piece of information, etc., that is circulated rapidly and widely from one internet user to another.
Profile Describe (a person or organization, especially a public figure) in a short article. "he was to profile each candidate"
Privacy Settings The part of a social networking website, internet browser, piece of software, etc. that allows you to control who sees information about you.
