Digital Footprint

TermDefinition
Digital Footprint The information left behind by somebody using the internet. This is often recorded involuntarily and can be used against the person.
Cookies Pieces of data left behind by websites that follow you as you surf the web.
GeoLocation The process or software that is capable of using your digital footprint to pinpoint your exact location.
MetaData Data that is used to summarize or point to other pieces of identifying data.
Data Information that is stored, processed, or created in a computer.
Spreadsheets A file or software that has fillable data assigned in a grid.
Browser History The history of every site your computer has gone to.
Digital Literacy The ability to understand and work your way around computers.
Blog A website that is reminiscent of somebody's journal. It contains reflections, thoughts, and things about their life.
Dossier A collection of data and documents about a person.
Derogatory A disrespectful action or attitude.
Social Networking A group of apps that help a user connect with other people.
Viral Something that has gone around the internet quickly.
Profile A collection of a person's personal data or data that is associated with somebody.
Privacy Settings The option to manage what you want to show and what you want to hide.
