CONSUMER RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
| Term | Definition |

| Consumer | is a person who buys goods or services for their own use. |
| Own-label products | is the brand of the shop that sells them |
| Caveat emptor | Let the buyer beware |
| Merchantable quality | must be in fit condition to be sold. It must be safe, useable and of reasonable quality. |
| Be fit for the purpose intended | The good must do what you expect it to do |
| Be as described | it must match the description given |
| Match the sample shown | an item must match the item you were shown before purchase |
| Repair | the item is to be fixed free of charge |
| Replacement | the same product or an alternative product for replacement |
| Refund | You can receive the cost of the item back |
| Redress | a remedy or compensation |
| credit note | allows the customer to choose other goods of the same value from that shop |
| Guarantee | is a promise that it will sort out any problems with a product or service within a specific, fixed period of time |
| Extended warranty | for an extra fee, the guarantee can be extended for a longer time period. |
