Why did King Duncan strip the Thane of Cawdor of his title and give it to Macbeth? The Thane of Cawdor betrayed King Duncan and deserted to the rebel army during the battle.
What prophecies do the witches make regarding Macbeth? He will be Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and he will be king.
What prophecies do the witches make regarding Banquo? The witches predicted his children would be kings.
How does Lady Macbeth react to the witches' prophecies and the idea of killing the king? Lady Macbeth is enthusiastic about obtaining the power that goes with the kingship. She fears that her husband does not have enough ambition to accomplish their goals.
"He's here in double trust: First, as I am his kinsman and his subject Strong both against the deed." Macbeth said this in his first soliloquy.
"Yet I do fear thy nature; It is too full o' th' milk of human kindness." Lady Macbeth said this.
"Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't." Lady Macbeth said this.
Where is the setting for the play? Scotland
At the end of scene two, Duncan orders the thane of Cawdor to be put to death. Who does he say should earn his title? Macbeth
Why does Banquo wonder if the witches are really woman? They have beards.
Who do the witches call "lesser than Macbeth and greater." Banquo
Who is Duncan's son? Malcolm
How does Lady Macbeth find out about her husband's promotion? A letter.
Who do Macbeth and Lady Macbeth plan to blame Duncan's murder on? The chamberlains.
