| Mole | SI unit for amount of a substance. Identified as 6.023×10^23 particles of a given substance. |
| Candela | SI unit of luminous intensity. Named for a British mathematician that correctly identified absolute zero. |
| Hertz | SI derived unit of frequency. Named for a German physicist. |

| Richter Scale | Scale for measurement of earthquakes. |
| Saffir-Simpson Scale | Doubly eponymous scale for measuring hurricanes. Rates 1-5. |
| Calorie | the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water through 1 °C. Measures heat energy. Often used to describe the nutritional values of food. |
| Megaton | A unit of explosive power chiefly used for nuclear weapons, equivalent to one million tons of TNT. |
| Inferno | Defined as 1 billion K. Used to measure the temperature in the interior of stars. |
