| Diffusion | A natural phenomenon caused by the tendency of small particles to spread out evenly within any given space. |
| Osmosis | Is the movement of water through a semipermeable membrane. |
| Mitosis | The process of organizing and distributing nuclear DNA during cell division. |
| Stratified Epithelium | Is characterized by multiple layers of cells with typically featured squamous cells at the free, or outer surface of the epithelial sheet. |
| Melanocytes | Contribute to colored pigments to the skin and serve to decrease the amount of ultraviolet light that can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. |
| Stratum Basale | Is a single layer fo columnar cell. |
| Radiation | Is the transfer of heat from the surface of one object to that of another without actual contact between the two. |
| Meiosis | Is the the type of cell division that occurs only in primitive sex cells during the process of becoming mature sex cells. |
| Conduction | The transfer of heat to any substance actually in contact with the body to clothing or jewelry. |
| Convection | Is the transfer of heat away from a surface by movement of heated air or fluid particles. |
