TermDefinition
Diffusion A natural phenomenon caused by the tendency of small particles to spread out evenly within any given space.
Osmosis Is the movement of water through a semipermeable membrane.
Mitosis The process of organizing and distributing nuclear DNA during cell division.
Stratified Epithelium Is characterized by multiple layers of cells with typically featured squamous cells at the free, or outer surface of the epithelial sheet.
Melanocytes Contribute to colored pigments to the skin and serve to decrease the amount of ultraviolet light that can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.
Stratum Basale Is a single layer fo columnar cell.
Radiation Is the transfer of heat from the surface of one object to that of another without actual contact between the two.
Meiosis Is the the type of cell division that occurs only in primitive sex cells during the process of becoming mature sex cells.
Conduction The transfer of heat to any substance actually in contact with the body to clothing or jewelry.
Convection Is the transfer of heat away from a surface by movement of heated air or fluid particles.
