Google Slides Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Slide Element of a slideshow like a poster or photograph that is used to inform, inspire or question.
Placeholder A space on a slide used to block off space for slide content.
Theme The general artistic design of a slideshow, including coordinated fonts, colors, and graphics.
Background A photo, graphic or color put behind the content of a slide.
Presentation A slideshow or movie used to teach, inspire or question.
Mask A shape used to establish the border for an image.
Line Weight The thickness of a line or picture border.
Crop Trimming sections out of a picture.
Contrast Making the brights and dark places of an image more or less different from each other.
Brightness Changing the exposure of an image by making it darker or lighter overall.
Transparency Changing an image to reduce how solid it appears in relation to other things behind it.
Animation Attracting attention to an image by making it move or adding a special effect to its entrance or departure.
Transition Adding a special effect to the entrance of a slide.
Layout How a slide's contents are blocked off according to the purpose of the slide (e.g. title, source, comparison, etc.).
