acute A condition with a rapid onset with a short duration.
chronic a condition that develops slowly and persists over a period of time
remission the temporary, partial, or complete disappearance of the symptoms of a disease without having achieved a cure
infection invasion of the body by a pathogenic organism
viral pertaining to a virus
