A quick overview of important library terms

TermDefinition
Table of contents This part of the book lists the chapters and page numbers.
Index This lists the names of topics and the page number where they can be found.
Dewey decimal system This is what librarians use to give library books numbers so we can find them.
Plagiarism Copying information you read in a book or online word-for-word in your paper.
Genre A way to group literature by a common theme.
Spine This is what holds the pages of a book together.
Digital Citizenship The responsible use of technology.
Almanac A reference source that contains information on weather, statistics, and popular trends.
