Digital Footprint | The information about a particular person that exists on the Internet as a result of their online activity |
Cookies | A packet of data sent by an Internet server to a browser, which is returned by the browser each time it subsequently accesses the same server, used to identify the user or track their access to the server |
Geolocation | The process or technique of identifying the geographical location of a person or device by means of digital information processed via the Internet |
Metadata | A set data that describes and gives information about other data |
Data | The quantities, characters, or symbols on which operations ar ever formed by a computer, being stored and transmitted in the form of electrical signals and recorded on magnetic, optical, or mechanical recording media |
Spreadsheet | An electronic document in which data is arranged in the rows and columns of a grid and can be manipulated and used in calculations |
Browser History | List of web pages a user has visited, as well as associated data such as page title and time of visit |
Digital Literacy | An individual’s ability to find, evaluate, and compose clear information through writing and other mediums on various digital platforms |
Blog | A regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style |
Dossier | A collection of documents about a particular person, event, or subject |
Derogatory | Showing a critical or disrespectful attitude |
Social Networking | The use of dedicated websites and applications to interact with other users, or the find people with similar interests to oneself |
Viral | Relating to or involving an image, video, piece of information, etc. that is circulated rapidly and widely from one Internet user to another |
Profile | The extent to which a person or organization attracts public notice |
Privacy Settings | Controls available on many social networking and other websites that allow users to limit who can access your profile and what information visitors can see |
