Tissues

A brief overview on the structure which makes up the body parts.

QuestionAnswer
What is the epithelial tissue? A barrier forms between the body and the external environment and plays important roles in protection, filtration, absorption, excretion, and sensation. The rapid regeneration of epithelial cells is important to their protective function.
What is stratified squamous epithelium? Scale-like, multilayered tissue which forms the outermost layer of the skin to protect the body from external influences.
What is simple squamous epithelium? A single layer of flat cells where it lines the inner surface of all blood vessels, form the wall of alveolar sacs in the lung and lines the body cavities. The primary function is to facilitate diffusion of gases and small molecules.
What is stratified cuboidal epithelium?
