Canvas M2L6-7 Using Indents, Tabs, and Tables
| Term | Definition |

| Indent | Shaping a paragraph by pushing all or part of it away from the left margin. Comes in three styles: first-line, block, and hanging |
| First Line Indent | Controlling how far away the top line of selected paragraphs will be from the left margin. |
| Left Indent | Controlling how far away the side of selected paragraphs will be from the left margin. |
| Right Indent | Controlling how far away the side of selected paragraphs will be from the right margin. |
| Hanging Indent | A style of indent often used with sources. This style has most of a paragraph indented more away from the left margin than the first line. |
| Tab stops | Tools in the ruler used with the Tab key that allow users to create columns of information. |
| Left tab stop | A tool in the ruler used with the Tab key that allows users to create columns of information lined up on the left of the tool. |
| Center tab stop | A tool in the ruler used with the Tab key that allows users to create columns of information centered on the tool. |
| Right tab stop | A tool in the ruler used with the Tab key that allows users to create columns of information lined up on the right of the tool. |
| Table | A grid in a document meant to hold and organize various kinds of information like labels, numbers, or images. |
| Cell | A single box in a table where a row and column meet |
| Row | A horizontal line of cells in a table. |
| Column | A vertical line of cells in a table. |
| Adjacent | Any cell, row, or column directly next to another cell, row, or column. |
