QuestionAnswer
What is the difference between parallel and serial transmission? Serial sends one bit at a time after each other whereas parallel sends multiple bits at the same time
What happens when the data transmitted using parallel transmission is skewed? The bits are received at different times at one end and are not synchronized.
What are the disadvantages of using parallel transmission? Higher cost because more wires needed; data needs to be kept synchronised so there is more chance of errors; there is a risk of crosstalk so transmission speed is limited.
What is the relationship between bandwidth and bit rate at which the data can be transmitted. Greater the bandwidth, the higher the bit rate. (proportional relationship)
