| What is the difference between parallel and serial transmission? | Serial sends one bit at a time after each other whereas parallel sends multiple bits at the same time |
| What happens when the data transmitted using parallel transmission is skewed? | The bits are received at different times at one end and are not synchronized. |
| What are the disadvantages of using parallel transmission? | Higher cost because more wires needed; data needs to be kept synchronised so there is more chance of errors; there is a risk of crosstalk so transmission speed is limited. |
| What is the relationship between bandwidth and bit rate at which the data can be transmitted. | Greater the bandwidth, the higher the bit rate. (proportional relationship) |
