Information Systems/Science An academic area of study. Studies information and its role within organisations. The manner by which information is collected, structured, stored, retrieved, and communicated. How people, organisations & society are affected by technology
Information System A system for managing information, for a particular purpose (example; blackboard). Usually computer-based (“CBIS”)... but doesn’t have to be. Both technology and organisation.
Information Technology technology that can be used to deal with information (deal = store, manipulate, communicate). Encompasses both hardware (devices) and software (apps/ applications). Also see the term “ITC” - information and communication technology.
