Digital Footprint | A digital footprint is a trail of data you create while using the Internet. It includes the websites you visit, emails you send, and information you submit to online services. A "passive digital footprint" is a data trail you unintentionally leave online. |
Cookies | messages that web servers pass to your web browser when you visit Internet sites. |
Geo Location | the use of location technologies such as GPS or IP addresses to identify and track the whereabouts of connected electronic devices. |
Meta Data | a set of data that describes and gives information about other data. |
Data | facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis. |
Spreadsheet | computer application for organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form. Spreadsheets were developed as computerized analogs of paper accounting worksheets. The program operates on data entered in cells of a table |
Browser History | list of web pages a user has visited, as well as associated data such as page title and time of visit. |
Digital Literacy | the ability to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information, requiring both cognitive and technical skills. |
Blog | a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style. |
Dossier | collection of papers or other sources, containing detailed information about a particular person or subject. |
Derogatory | showing a critical or disrespectful attitude. |
Social Networking | the use of dedicated websites and applications to interact with other users, or to find people with similar interests to oneself. |
Viral | relating to or involving an image, video, piece of information, etc., that is circulated rapidly and widely from one internet user to another. |
Profile | an outline of something, especially a person's face, as seen from one side. |
Privacy Settings | the part of a social networking website, internet browser, piece of software, etc. that allows you to control who sees information about you. |
