| Term | Definition |

| Leader | the leader of a group of people or an organization is the person who is in control/in charge of it |
| Leadership | a capacity to lead with responsibility and initiative |
| Power | possession of control, authority, or influence over others |
| Position Power | the power a person drives from a particular office or rank in a formal organization system |
| Reward Power | the power of a manager to give some type of reward to an employee as a means to influence the employee to act |
| Expert Power | the perception that a certain person has an elevated level of knowledge or specific skill set that others do not have |
| Identity Power | ability to influence others based on their identity with the person |
| Leadership Style | the manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans, and motivating people to accomplish a task |
| Initiative | energy or aptitude displayed initiation of action |
| Human Relations | a course, study, or program designed to develop better interpersonal and intergroup adjustments |
| Integrity | firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values |
| Autocratic Leadership | one person controls all the decisions and takes very little inputs from other group members |
| Democratic Leadership | members of a group take a more participative role in the decision making process, but the leader ultimately has final say |
| Free-rein Leadership | leaders are hands-off and allow group members to make the decisions |
| Delegate | entrust a task or responsibility to another person, typically one who is less senior than oneself |
| Self-managed teams | a self-organized, semi-autonomous group of employees |
| Open Leader | having the confidence and humility to give up the need to be in control while inspiring commitment from people to accomplish goals |
| Situational Leader | a leader has to adapt their leadership style to the situation or to the people they are trying to influence |
