| Term | Definition |

| Digital Footprint | The information about a particular person that exists on the internet as a result of their online activity |
| Cookies | Text files with small pieces of data — like a username and password — that are used to identify your computer as you use a computer network |
| GeoLocation | The capability to detect and record where you and other people are located |
| MetaData | Basic information about data, making finding & working with particular instances of data easier |
| Data | Information processed or stored by a computer |
| Spreadsheet | An electronic document in which data is arranged in the rows and columns of a grid and can be manipulated and used in calculations |
| Browser History | List of web pages a user has visited recently, as well as associated data such as page title and time of visit, which is recorded by web browser software as standard for a certain period of time |
| Digital Literacy | The ability to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information, requiring both cognitive and technical skills |
| Blog | A regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style |
| Dossier | A collection of documents about a particular person, event, or subject |
| Derogatory | Showing a critical or disrespectful attitude |
| Social Networking | The use of dedicated websites and applications to interact with other users, or to find people with similar interests to oneself |
| Viral | Relating to or involving an image, video, piece of information, etc., that is circulated rapidly and widely from one internet user to another |
| Profile | Visual display of personal data associated with a specific user, or a customized desktop environment |
| Privacy Settings | Controls available on many social networking and other websites that allow users to limit who can access your profile and what information visitors can see |
