Vocabulary for learning digital citizenship.

digital footprint information about you online
URL (Uniform Resource Locator) the address of a website (Example: www.google.com)
netiquette your behavior on the internet
IP address used for identifying devices on a network
social media places where you can communicate with people online
hash tag ( # ) symbol used for grouping and finding posts about a topic
cyberbully someone who threatens and harasses another person online
troll a person who likes to annoy or fight with others online
censorship to prohibit speech that is believed to be unacceptable
viral when something spreads quickly online
invisible audience people you can't see online
anonymous hidden or unknown
plagiarism using somebody else's work or ideas and not giving them credit
clickbait a link that teases you to click it (Ex: "You won't believe what happened next!")
flame war when people fight or insult each other on social media
doxing causing harm to a person by posting their private information
fake news false information presented as true or believable
cybercriminal person who uses a computer or device to do something illegal
dark web hidden part of the internet where questionable/illegal activity occurs
identity theft pretending to be somebody else for personal gain
phishing attempting to steal ("catch") private information through scams
hacking breaking into a computer network
piracy the illegal copying, sharing and selling of somebody's work
ransomware hijacking a network and its data until money is paid
