AntiDiuretic Hormone (ADH) vasopressin which stimulates a rise in blood pressure, dehydration triggers the release of ADH, causees the kidney tubules to reabsorb water from urine, helps the body conserve water.
Aldosterone Made from adrenal cortex, stimulates kidney tubules to conserve sodium, which triggers the release of ADH
Glucagon produced by alpha cells, pancreatic islets promotes the movement of glucose from storage and into the blood
Insulin produced by beta cells pancreatic islets promotes movement of glucose out from blood and into the cells
Erythropoietin A hormone that produced by the kidneys that promote red blood cell production
Erythrocyte transportation of respiratory gases (O2 and CO2)
Neutrophil cellular defense-phagocytosis of small pathogenic microorganisms
basophil secretes heparin and histamine
Eosinophil Cellular defense-phagocytosis chemical attack of large pathogenic microorganisms and parasite worms; helps regulate allergic reactions and other inflammatory agents.
lymphocytes Humoral defense- secretes antibodies, involved with immune system response and regulation
Monocyte capable of migrating out of the blood to enter tissue spaces as a macrophage-an aggressive phagocytic cell capable of ingesting bacteria, cellular debri, and cancerous cells
Platelet releases clot-activated substances and helps the formation of blood clot by forming platelet plugs
