Key Vocabulary

TermDefinition
work Any activity that requires effort eg. cleaning your room or doing your homework.
employment Work carried out in return for payment e.g working in supermarket.
employee A person who works for someone else in return for payment.
employer A person who pays people to work for them.
self-employment Working for yourself e.g farmer.
volunteerism Volunteering time and energy without payment, in order to benefit society.
labour force All the people in the country who are available for work.
unemployment When people are available for work but cannot find a suitable job.
