| Afferent | Means that the signal is traveling towards a particular point. |
| Triglycerides | the most abundant lipids. |
| Phospholipids | are lipid compounds that are like triglycerides. |
| semipermeable membrane | allows water to pass through the membrane, but blocks the passage of at least one solute. |
| aquaporins | a term meaning “water pore proteins. |
| osmotic pressure | of a solution is the pressure that prevents the movement of water by osmosis from pure water into the solution. |
| sarcomere | is a segment of the myofibril between two successive Z disks |
| neuromuscular junction | is a type of connection called a synapse and is characterized by a narrow gap, or synaptic cleft, across which neurotransmitter molecules transmit signals. |
| myoglobin | excess oxygen molecules in the sarcoplasm are at-tracted to a large protein molecule |
