| Feedback Loops | information or feedback may be transmitted in these control loops by nervous impulses or by specific chemical messengers called hormones which are secreted into the bloodstream |
| Pathophysiology | study of the underlying physiological processes associated with disease |
| Macromolecules | have many subunits attached to one another or to the chemical compounds |
| Amino Acids | elements that make up a protein molecule that are bonded together to form chemical units |
| Specificity | the structural characteristics of transporters such as size, shape, and charge which determine what they transport |
| Diffusion | A natural phenomenon caused by the tendency of small particles to spread out evenly within any given space |
| Catalyst | a chemical that reduces the amount of activation energy needed to start a chemical reaction |
