What is homeostasis? A state of relative consistency.
What is a normal reading range/range of normal? This is called a set point.
What is a negative-feedback mechanism? A negative-feedback mechanism is responsible for maintaining homeostasis, minimizing changes in our blood glucose levels, & is responsible for the increase in sweat when air temperature is higher than the body temperature.
What term means "water loving"? The term is: hydrophilic.
What four elements do proteins have? The four elements that proteins have are carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, & nitrogen.
What are the base pairs for DNA? The base pairs for DNA are adenine & thymine, & cytosine & guanine.
What does diffusion require? Diffusion requires a concentration gradient.
What are the phases of mitosis? The phases of mitosis are: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase.
What are two processes of protein synthesis? Two processes of protein synthesis are transcription & translation.
Where can we find hair follicles? In the dermis.
The type of tissue that contains neurons is? This tissue is called nervous tissue.
What are is known as "true skin"? The area that is known as "true skin" is called the dermis.
What does adipocytes release for energy? Adipocytes release fat & triglycerides for energy.
What is the main site for hematopoiesis? The main site for hematopoiesis is in the red bone marrow.
At what age does bone loss begin to exceed bone gain? Between the ages of 35-40.
True or false: synarthrotic joints are immovable? True.
What are the three phases of twitch contraction? The three phases are: latent period, contraction phase, & relaxation phase.
What pillow-like structures are found in synovial joints? The structures are called bursa.
