| Trough | point that exhibits maximum amount of downward displacement from the rest position |
| Wavelength | distance from crest to crest |
| Amplitude | distance from rest to crest to trough |
| Frequency | Number of waves to pass a point in one second |
| Pitch | Quality of sound determined by rate of vibration |
| Analog | continuous phenomena |
| Sample Rate | rate or frequency is digitally recorded |
| Bit Rate | number of a bits a computer can process |
| Wave Form | visual of sounds |
| Clip | short segment of audio |
| Track | area where audio moves |
| Trim | removes from left and right of selected audio |
| Amplify | change volume of audio |
| Capture | record audio or video or still images as digital data |
| WAV | high quality lossless big file size |
| AIFF | high quality lossless big file size |
| MP3 | compressed format good for internet |
| .avi(Audio Video Interleave) | stores video and audio |
