| Sounds | Vibrations that travel through the air |
| Sound Wave | A wave of compression and refraction in which sound is propagated |
| Decibels | Unit to measure the intensity of sound |
| Crest | A point on wave with maximum value |
| Trough | A point on wave with lowest value |
| Wavelength | Difference between crest on a wavelength |
| Amplitude | The maximum extent of a vibration |
| Frequency | Amount of cycles a vibrating objects completes |
| Pitch | Degree of highness or lowness of a tone. |
| Analog | Recording object in continuous vibrations |
| Sample Rate | Number of samples of audion created per second |
| Bit Rate | Number of bits per second that can be transferred through a network |
| Waveform | A curve showing shape of a wave |
| Clip | A piece of a longer recording. |
| Track | Part of music that is recorded separately |
| Trim | Used to adjust level of input signals |
| Amplify | To make something stronger or louder |
| Capture | Converting a analog video signal |
| WAV | Lossless uncompressed broadcast |
| AIFF | File format used for storying sound data |
| MP3 | A compressed audio format |
| .avi (Audio Video Interleave) | File format used for video playback |
| .ogg (Ogg Vorbis) | Open source file format for multimedia |
