Week 6 General Computer Application Terms

screentip when you hover over a part of the Word window and a box with information about what you are pointing to pops up
contiguous selection selection of text which is located next to each other or touching in a sequence
non-contiguous selection selection of text which is not located next to each other or touching in a sequence
hyperlink text or graphics in a document, that when clicked on, will connect the user to another place in the document, another file, or an online location
bookmark a location in a text that has been digitally marked so that you can return to it with a single click (a type of hyperlink)
select to choose text or an object so you can format or edit it in some way
soft page break break entered by Word to start a new page when the current page is full
hard page break break entered by the user before the current page is full
live preview some of the formatting commands will temporarily show the change that selecting that command would make in the document (shows you how it would look)
drop-down menu list of options available for some formatting commands, which is accessed by clicking the arrow next to the command button
