Coding Unit 2 Vocab

Vocab Terms & Definition for Codesters Lessons 1-4

TermDefinition
Bugs Problems or errors in code that either stop the program from running or do not allow the program to accomplish the intended goal. Finding and fixing these errors is called Debugging.
Comment A line that starts with a hashtag # and is gray. It gives information about the code but does not run or affect the program.
Dot Notation Using a sprite’s name in front of a command to tell a specific sprite what to do.
Integer A number that does not have decimal or fractional part in it. Integers show up blue in Codesters and are not surrounded by quotes.
Parameter Controls or changes something about the shape or text, like its location, size, or color.
Program A set of commands that run in order from top to bottom.
String Anything that is a word, letter, or sentence surrounded by quotes. These show up green in Codesters.
Variable A name that stores a value. In Codesters, this is the word before the equal sign (in orange) that refers to different sprites on the stage.
