Disclosure

QuestionAnswer
What is a good way to say that you must authenticate the customer before providing them with any account related information? Was your call just now, transferred to me along with a transfer PIN? If yes, ask them for the PIN. If no, state that "To protect your privacy, I must ask you to verify some account related information before I will discuss the account with you."
How is the transfer PIN verified? On CC ENMODA or via the IAT Disclosure tool.
Who is a "Third Party"? Anyone who is not the taxpayer.
When can I discuss account related information with a third party? 1) When an authorization is already on file Or 2) When the taxpayer is on hand, has been authenticated, and gives the IA the authorization to speak to the third party.
How do I handle disclosure with a third party who has not satisfied one of the two methods of authorization? 1) Explain that no account information is available without authorization. 2) Advise that I can accept any information that they wish to provide me with. 3) Advise them to have the taxpayer complete either F-8821 or F-2848
Wbat is important that a third party know when they provide you with information regarding the taxpayer's issue. Tell the third party that I will review the information which they have provided, and that I will respond directly to the taxpayer.
