Word Lesson 8: Using Illustrations & Graphics
| Term | Definition |

| Caption | consist of few descriptive words, and are typically used for figures, tables, and equations. |
| Crop | you trim the horizontal or vertical edges to remove unwanted areas. |
| Drawing Canvas | serves as a guide. |
| Embedded Object | it becomes part of the document and is no longer connected to the original image. |
| Floating Object | types of objects that allow increased flexibility in placement within the document |
| Inline Object | are those that reside on the same layer as your text and are positioned within the stream of text that surrounds the object. |
| Linked Object | creates a connection between the document and the external picture file, but doesn’t incorporate the image into the Word file. |
| Scale | increases or decreases the original picture’s height and width by a percentage. |
| Screen Clippings | Capturing visual information on your computer screen |
| Screenshot | an image of the data displayed on the screen of a computer or mobile device. |
| Shapes | are figures such as lines, rectangles, block arrows, equation shapes, flowcharts, stars, banners, and callouts. |
| Smart Art Graphics | are graphical illustrations available from a list of various categories, including List diagrams, Process diagrams, Cycle diagrams, Hierarchy diagrams, Relationship diagrams, Matrix diagrams, and Pyramid diagrams. |
| WordArt | feature that creates decorative effects with text. |
