| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Caption | Consists of few descriptive words, and are typically used for figures, tables, and equations. |
| Crop | a picture, you trim the horizontal or vertical edges to remove unwanted areas. |
| Drawing canvas | You can also insert a drawing canvas that serves as a guide. |
| Embedded object | Word marks it as an embedded object by default, which means it becomes part of the document and is no longer connected to the original image. |
| Floating object | if you choose to format the picture as a floating object, Word positions the image precisely on the page, and allows the text to wrap around it in one of several available formats. |
| Inline object | inline object that moves along with the text that surrounds it, select the In Line with Text option. |
| Linked object | it creates a connection between the document and the external picture file. |
| Scale | increases or decreases the original pictures height and width by percentage. |
| Screen clippings | it enables you to draw a box and capture an image of its contents. |
| Screenshot | when you click the screenshot button in the illustrations group on the insert tab, a menu appears containing thumbnails of the computers currently open windows. |
| Shapes | are figures such as lines, rectangles, blocks arrows, equation shapes, flowcharts, stars, banners, and callouts. |
| Smart Art Graphics | are graphical illustrations available from a list of various categories. |
| WordArt | Is a feature that creates decorative effects with text. |
