Inches Standard unit of measurement for the United States and US standard sized paper
Pixels Represented by one illuminated dot on a screen
Picas 1/6 of an inch, often used in print design
Points Standard unit of measurement for typefaces, equal to 1/72 of an inch

Resolution The amount of detail stored in a digital image
PPI Pixels Per Inch
On Screen Resolution
Print Resolution
DPI Dots Per Inch, used by printers to determine resolution
RGB Red Green Blue, the amount of each ranges from 0 to 255 and determines the produced color
CMYK Cyan Magenta Yellow Black (Key), assigned percentage values when printing
Aspect Ratios The relationship between an object's width and height
Cropping Cutting out part of the image
Layering Compiling multiple pictures or objects together into one image
Selections Identifying a specific area to alter
Transforming Changing a graphic's size or dimensions
Layer Styles One or more effects applied to a layer or layer group
Layer Masks A non-destructive method to apply transparency to a specific area
Transparency Removing the background color of a raster image to make it "see-through"
Fill putting a color, gradient, pattern or texture into an area
Gradient A smooth transition from one color to another
Adjustment Layers Non-destructive layers that can apply image tonal and color adjustments
Filters Used to apply special effects to an image that would be difficult to produce manually
Clone Stamp Copies an area of an image to place elsewhere
Blend Modes Change the way layers interact and blend together
