resolution amount of detail that can be stored in an image

color modes mathematical model that shows percentages of colors to produce other colors
RGB Uses red green and blue
CMYK cyan magenta yellow black used for printing

cropping cutting out part of an image
layers compiling multiple pictures into one image creating layers
selections identifying a specific area of a layer or image so you only mess with that part
transparency removing background color from an image
transforming changing a graphics size or dimensions through scaling or rotating
layer styles one or more effects applied to a layer or layer group
Layer masks apply transparency to a specific portion of a layer with precise control
fill putting a color gradient pattern or texture into an object or area
gradient filling an object with a smooth transition
adjustment layers non destructive layers that are added to allow you to apply images tonal or color adjustment
filters apply special effects to an image
cloning using a sampled area to paint over another area
blend modes change the way layers act by determining how a layer will blend with layers below it
