| Inches | A unit of measurement |
| Pixels | A single point in a graphic image |
| Points | Marks a position in space |
| Picas | A unit of size and length equal to 12 points(about 1/6 of an inch |
| Em Space | Used to define current point size o f the font |
| Percentage | A piece of a whole |
| Resolution | The detail an image holds |
| PPI | Refers to the fixed number of pixel that a screen can display and the density of the pixels |
| On screen resolution | The number of pixels that can be displayed on a computer monitor |
| DPI | Refers to the output resolution of a printer |
| RGB | The colors to be used on a computer display (red, green, blue) |
| CMYK | A color model in which all these colors are described as a mixture of these four(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) |
| Aspect Ratio | An images width divided by its height. |
| Cropping | Removing part of an image |
| Layering | Compiling multiple images into a single image |
| Selections | Identifying a specific area of a layer or image that allows you to move or apply techniques to only that specific area |
| Transforming | Changing a graphics size or dimensions through commands such as scaling and rotating |
| Layer Styles | One or more effects applied to a layer or layer groups |
| Layer Masks | A non destructive method which allows you to apply transparency to a specific portion of a layer with precise control |
| Transparency | |
| Fill | Putting a color, gradient, pattern, or texture into an object area |
| Gradient | Filling an object with a smooth transition from one color to another |
| Adjust Layers | Non destructive layers that can be added to allow you to apply image tonal and color adjustments |
| Filters | Used to apply special effect to an image that would be too difficult to create manually |
| Clone Stamp | Samples and area if an image and then allows you to paint over another area of the image the the sampled area |
| Blend Modes | Change the way layers interact by determining how a layer will blend with the layers below it |
