Managing Text Flow

Word Lesson 5

TermDefinition
Columns Flow of text where text flows from the bottom of one column to the top of another
Hyphenation command that automatically uses a hyphen to continue a word onto the next line of a page
Landscape Orientation Orientation of document in which text runs across the longer dimension of the page
Margins Areas of white space that border the top and sides of a document
Non-breaking spaces Space character that prevents an automatic line break
Orphan First line of text in a paragraph that appears on the last line of a page
Page break Location where one page ends and another begins
Portrait Orientation Orientation of document in which text runs across the shorter dimension of the page
Section break Point or location where a section ends and another begins
Widow Last line in a paragraph that appears as the first line at the beginning of a paragraph
