Understand Criminal laws.

TermDefinition
Aggravated Assault An attempt to cause serious bodily harm to another person.
Arson Purposefully setting fire to property.
Battery Harmful physical contact to another person.
Bribery Illegally paying money to persuade someone of something or to take an action.
Burglary Entry into a building to commit a crime.
Contempt of Court Being disobedient or disrespectful in a court of law.
Criminal Act An action that is a violation of a statute.
Criminal Intent Performing an action with intent to commit a crime.
Duty An obligatory action.
Embezzlement Stealing funds from an employer.
Felony A crime that is punishable by a year or more or death.
Forgery Making a false signature or document.
Fraud Criminal deception to gain something.
Infraction A violation of a law or agreement.
Kidnapping Abducting someone and holding them captive.
Larceny Theft of personal property.
Manslaughter Killing another person.
Misdemeanor A crime that is less severe than a felony.
Money Laundering Transferring money from illegal practices through a bank or business to make it seem legitimately gained.
Murder Taking someone's life with intent.
Obstruction of Justice Interrupting an investigation or prosecution of an accused.
Perjury Lying under oath.
Rape Unwilling penetration of the vagina, anus, or oral cavity.
Robbery Forcefully taking, or threatening to forcefully take, something from someone.
Simple Assault Aggravated assault but as a misdemeanor.
Statutory Rape A minor is not able to give consent to a sexual act, so if two minors (age depends on state) have sex, it is rape.
Treason Betraying one's country.
Vandalism Purposeful destruction of someone's property.
Violation of Duty Not carrying out the duties of one's role.
