Microsoft Word Unit 1 Lesson 3

TermDefinition
Character Any single letter, number, symbol, or punctuation mark.
Character spacing The spacing in and around each character of text.
Character styles Are applied to individual characters or words that you select. They have an italicized lowercase a next to them.
Font A typeface that applies a style to characters.
Live preview What it would look like in that font.
Paragraph styles Format is applied instantly to all text in the paragraph where the insertion point is located, whether or not that text is selected.
Point size The height of characters, with one point equaling approximately 1/72 of an inch
Text Effects Distinctive appearance to the selected text, such as an outline, glow, shadow, and reflection.
WordArt Creates decorative effects with text.
