Word lesson 3; Character Formatting
| Term | Definition |

| Character | Any single letter, number, symbol, or punctuation mark. |
| Character Spacing | Refers to the spacing in and around each character of text. |
| Character Styles | Applied to individual characters or words that you select. |
| Font | A typeface that applies a style to characters. |
| Live Preview | Provides a preview of what that selected text will look like in that font. |
| Paragraph Styles | The format is applied instantly to all text in the paragraph where the insertion point is located, whether or not that text is selected. |
| Point Size | Refers to the height of characters, with one point equaling approximately 1/72 of an inch. Ranges from an 8 point size to 72 points or higher. |
| Text Effects | Add a distinctive appearance to selected text, such as outline, shadow, glow, or reflection. |
| Word Art | A feature that creates decorative effects with text. |
