group a set of related tools on the ribbon
I-beam large "I" that precedes typed letters
block style format that aligns text along the left margin
insertion point where you begin creating your text
menu a list of options associated with them
mixed punctuation requires a colon after the salutation and closing
nonprinting characters symbols for certain formatting commands
open punctuation requires no punctuation after the salutation or closing
