| Backstage View | the file that opens when you click the file tab |
| Command | is a button list or other clickable option on the ribbon |
| Dialog Box | a box that prompts the user for additional information |
| Dialog Box Launcher | a small icon on the ribbon that opens the dialog box related to that group |
| Group | a collection on related word commands |
| I-Beam | when the insertion point changes to a large I |
| Quick Access Toolbar | has customizable commands that users access most often |
| Tabs | a label section of the Ribbon that contains a group of related tools |
| Block Style | it aligns text along the left margin like the date, inside address, salutation, body of letter, closing, signature |
| Insertion point | when you start your text |
| Menu | a special input tool that lets a user selects commands and open sub menus |
| Mixed punctuation | required colon after the salutation and a comma after the closing |
| Nonprinting characters | symbols for certain formatting commands such as paragraphs, indents and tabs, and spaces |
| Open punctuation | requires no punctuation after the salutation or closing |
| Preview | will give you an opportunity to see what the printed document will look like |
