TermDefinition
Backstage View A tool for performing many file management tasks.
Block Style Aligns text along left margin.
Command An instruction based on an action that you perform in Word by clicking a button or entering information into a command box.
Dialog Box Displays additional options or information.
Dialog Box Launcher A small arrow in the lower-right corner of the group.
Groups Collections of related Word commands.
I-Beam The place where you put your cursor over it and it turns into a large I.
Insertion Point Where you begin creating your text.
Menu A list of options associated with the command icons.
Mixed Punctuation Requires a colon after the salutation and a comma after the closing.
Non-printing Characters Symbols for certain formatting commands.
Open Punctuation Requires no punctuation after the salutation or the closing.
Preview Lets you see what printed documents will look like.
Print Putting a document into paper.
Quick Access Toolbar Located above the Ribbon and contains commands that users access most often.
Repeat Repeats your last action.
Ribbon Contains multiple commands on seperate tabs.
Save Opens the Save As screen.
Save As Appears as a command listed in backstage when you click the file tab.
Settings Place to change different options.
Tabs Different options that pop up on the top of your screen or document.
Template A master document with predefined page layout, fonts, margins, and styles that is used to create new documents with the same basic formatting.
Undo Lets you cancel or undo your last Word command or action.
White Space The space between pages of the document.
Word Wrap Automatically wraps text to the next line as it reaches the right margin.
