| dialog box | area on a screen in which you are prompted to provide information or select commands |
| dialog box launcher | a small icon that appears in a group |
| groups | Collections of related word commands |
| i-beam | The insertion point turns into the I-beam after putting your cursor on it |
| insertion point | Upper left corner where u create text |
| menu | a list of commands |
| mixed punctuation | Requires a colon after the salutation |
| non printing characters | Symbols for certain formatting certain formatting commands |
| open punctuation | Requires no punctuation after the salutation |
| preview | formatting a document for the printer |
| write letters by hand or to produce mechanically copy a document | |
