Word Lesson 1 Understanding word

| Backstage View | A screen that appear when you click the File tab in word |
| Block Style | Format that aligns text along the left margin |
| Command | An instruction based on an action that you preform |
| Dialog box | Displays additional options or information you can use to execute a command |
| Dialog box launcher | A small arrow in the lower-right corner of the group |
| Groups | Collections of related word commands |
| I-beam | Where the insertion point changes to a large 'I' |
| Insertion point | The point on where you begin creating your text |
| Menu | A list of options associated with Command icons |
| Mixed punctuation | A colon after the salutation and a coma after the closing |
| Non-printing characters | Symbols for certain formatting commands such as paragraphs, indents and tabs, and spaces between words |
| Open punctuation | No punctuation after the salutation or the closing |
| Preview | Enables you to view your document as it will appear |
