Word Lesson 1 Understanding word

Backstage View A screen that appear when you click the File tab in word
Block Style Format that aligns text along the left margin
Command An instruction based on an action that you preform
Dialog box Displays additional options or information you can use to execute a command
Dialog box launcher A small arrow in the lower-right corner of the group
Groups Collections of related word commands
I-beam Where the insertion point changes to a large 'I'
Insertion point The point on where you begin creating your text
Menu A list of options associated with Command icons
Mixed punctuation A colon after the salutation and a coma after the closing
Non-printing characters Symbols for certain formatting commands such as paragraphs, indents and tabs, and spaces between words
Open punctuation No punctuation after the salutation or the closing
Preview Enables you to view your document as it will appear
Print Print command is located on the file tab
Quick Access Toolbar To access word commands
Repeat Repeats your last action
Ribbon Contains multiple Commands on separate tabs
Save Button in the quick access toolbar
Save As Lets you chose a save location for your file
Settings Options to control document specific commands
Tabs An assortment of groups
Template Master document with a predefined page layout
Undo command that lets you cancel or undo your last word command
White Space The space between pages of the document
Word Wrap Auto wraps text to the next line as it reaches the right margin
