Word lesson 1 understanding word

| Backstage View | Gives access to saving, opening, info about the open file. |
| Block Style | Format style that aligns text along the left margin. |
| Command | A command is an instruction based on an action that you perform in Word by clicking a button or entering information into a command box. |
| Dialog box | A moveable window that is displayed on screen in response to the user selecting a menu option. |
| Dialog box launcher | A small arrow in the lower-right corner of the group. |
| Groups | Collections of related Word commands. |
| I-beam | The large "I" created when users place the cursor near the insertion point. |
| Insertion point | The blinking point at the upper-left side of the document where you will begin creating your text. |
| Menu | A list of options. |
| Mixed punctuation | A style requires a colon after the salutation and a comma after the closing. |
| Non-printing characters | Symbols for certain formatting commands, such as paragraphs,indents and tabs. |
| Open punctuation | A style that requires no punctuation after the salutation or the closing. |
| Preview | A tool that enables users to visually check your document for errors before printing. |

| White space | The space between pages of the document. |
| Word Wrap | Automatically wraps text to the next line as it reaches the right margin. |
