Word lesson -1 understanding word

TermDefinition
Backstage view A tool that offers quick access to commands .
Block style Format that aligns text along the left margin.
Command An instruction based on a action that you perform in word by clicking a button or entering information into a command box.
Dialog box It displays additional options or information that you can use to execute a command.
Dialog box launcher A small arrow in the lower-right corner of the group that you click to launch a dialog-box.
Groups A collection of related word commands.
I-beam When you place your cursor near the upper-left corner of the document, the insertion point changes to a large "I" which is called the I-beam.
Insertion point upper-left corner of the word document where you begin creating your text.
Menu A list of options.
Mixed punctuation A style that requires requires a colon after the salutation and a comma after closing.
Non-printing characters Non-printing characters are symbols for certain formatting commands.
Open punctuation Requires no punctuation after the salutation or the closing.
Preview Preview gives you an opportunity to see how your result will look before printing.
Print To send a document to a printer.
Quick access toolbar Contains commands that users can access very quickly.
Repeat It repeats your last action.
Ribbon A name of something that contains multiple commands on separate tabs
Save A button in the quick access Toolbar that saves an existing document.
Save as A dialog box that will save a document in a specific format.
Settings A control panel that allows the user to configure the appearance or actions in an application
Tabs A second or further document or page that can be opened on a spreadsheet or a web browser.
Template It is a master document with predefined page layout.
Undo This command lets you cancel or undo your last Word command or action.
White space It is a space between the documents where a gray area between the bottom of each page and the top of the next one.
Word Wrap Automatically wraps text to the next line as it reaches the right margin or the end of the margin.
Mini toolbar A small toolbar with popular commands that appears when you point to select text.
